Wound care.
Care for healing wounds.
Wounds need careful assessment, treatment and follow-up. Wound care can address pressure, diabetic, venous and burn wounds, among others.

A nursing plan for the wound
A nurse needs to establish the care required. The proposed visits, dressings and review arrangements depend on that assessment and the treating clinician's plan. A doctor may refer a wound for specialist assessment when needed.
Arranging visits
Wound care may be needed in a care centre, as an outpatient or at home. Nursing visits at home must be confirmed for the exact address and frequency needed. Tell the team the town or suburb, proposed dates and referring clinician.
Dressings, supplies and costs
Ask what the quote includes, which dressings or other supplies are needed and whether an assessment is charged separately. The medical scheme must confirm any benefit; a visit or product is not automatically covered.
Follow-up and specialist treatment
The nurse reviews the wound and shares changes with the treating clinician. If negative-pressure therapy is prescribed, it needs its own clinical, equipment and visit arrangements. Medwell can confirm whether that service can be arranged.
GOOD TO KNOW
What to discuss
- Where is the person, and when should visits start?
- Who is the treating clinician?
- Which dressings or supplies have been prescribed?
Medwell can confirm the care and local arrangements after discussing the person’s needs.
Talk through the next step
Tell Medwell where care is needed and what has changed. The team can discuss the service and what can be arranged.
