Medwell provides professional home based care. Dorah Msiza was posted to my home. She is well trained to look after patients, post surgery. She went beyond her required job description. I can recommend Dorah to anyone who requires this service.

This report is a horrible thing for me to write. We have two carers, Grace Moremi and Mirriam Shia. I cannot say that one is better than the other. They are both absolute angels. I always say that they are not trained but born to do the job they do.
For both nothing is too much, no matter the time of day or night. A few weeks ago I wasn’t feeling well and both told me not to worry about anything they would do it. So, there I lay, feeling very sorry for myself when each, on separate occasions, brought Laureen and I, our meals. This I did not ask for and it was over a changeover period.
I have praise for both and the paper is not big enough for me to give each of them the stars that they deserve. They are strict, but fair and all in the right way, with Laureen. They check on her medication and so to it that the exercises that she must do are done as instructed by the oncologist. Each of them have been to Cape Town with us to family weddings. I was exhausted yet with all the extra put on them, never a complaint or “long face.”
They are not good carers, but the best!! My whole family adore them.
We, as a family, all feel that these two ladies are angels. I personally believe that they both deserve top place.
If you have any queries or questions you require, please feel free to contact me.

Mpumi Mogashoa has helped look after our 96yr old mom for the last 6 years. She is intelligent, well spoken and always trying to improve herself. Mpumi fits in well with our family and always goes the extra mile even helping at family functions. Mpumi shows kindness, patients and consideration towards our 96yrs old mother. She is very organised and professional. We trust her with the care of our mom.
I have put down a few ideas. Let me know what you think and what you want to add or change.

    Wendy Motha
Wendy has been our mom’s caregiver for the past eleven years. She has become part of our family and we trust her with our 96 yr old mom. Wendy has shown incredible patients, kindness and compassion towards our mom. She has embraced our Italian culture and watches our Mom’s favourite programs with her, even learning a few Italian words. Wendy is also a woman of deep faith and her calm and reassuring presence means our mom is always well looked after.

    Review – Julie (Siphiwe) Majola

My family met Julie at the beginning of June 2024 at Hazeldean step down facility in Pretoria, the morning my Dad, Pieter Louw was discharged.

Julie came home with us that very day. The atmosphere in our home changed immediately, we felt “held”, Julie’s skills are unmatched. Julie made the darkest time in our life bearable.

She showed unwavering competence and compassion in her profession in caring for a stage 4 brain cancer (Glioblastoma) patient. Teaching us a lot along the way too.

Julie was incredible in the way that she was there for my Dad and our family as a whole - she changed our lives. The way that she showed my Dad compassion and helped him keep his dignity is something that we will never forget, the way that she honored a human life will stick with us forever.

She was also there for the rest of the family and was such an incredible emotional support, guiding us and holding us until the very end when Pieter, my Dad sadly passed away.

Julie is an absolute unicorn in her field, which is undoubtably a calling. We will forever be grateful and thankful that she was in our life and that our paths crossed.

    Lesinda Olifant (Caregiver)

It is a great pleasure to share our experience with Lesinda as a caregiver.

My husband suffered a stroke in 2024 and, after many months in hospital and rehabilitation, Lesinda joined our household to take care of him. She has a genuine love for what she does and always approaches the patient with a positive yet realistic attitude.

Needless to say, she was perfect for our situation. With her natural gift for caregiving, her calm nature, and her professional approach, she consistently created a sense of security. She handles every situation with respect and is clearly passionate about her work.

For me, it was a completely new experience with my husband ,who had always been fit and healthy. Lesinda made everything feel natural and handled every situation with a smile and great empathy.

She truly became part of our family and engaged with each child and grandchild with genuine interest and understanding. Despite the major adjustment in our lives, she brought a calm and natural flow to our daily routine.

We still keep in regular contact with her, and any patient who has the privilege of having her as a caregiver can consider themselves very fortunate.

I will forever be grateful to Lecinda Olifant for the care and compassion shown to my husband in his final days. During one of the most difficult times in our lives, she was more than just a nurse — she was a source of comfort, dignity, and kindness. Her gentle nature, patience, and genuine love for what she does were evident in every moment she spent with him. She cared for him as if he were her own family, always attentive to his needs and making sure he was as comfortable as possible.
Her presence brought a sense of peace into a very and we were truly blessed to have her by our side. I cannot recommend her highly enough — she is an absolute angel in her profession.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I cannot recommend Gladys Motlhabeng highly enough. She looked after my mom, who has severe dementia, this past weekend and truly exceeded all expectations.

Gladys arrived on time and immediately created a calm and comforting environment. With a previous caregiver, my mom was very resistant and even locked her out of the house, but with Gladys there was no issue at all—my mom was relaxed and accepted her presence with ease, which speaks volumes.

A big bonus is that Gladys speaks Afrikaans, which made communication with my mom much easier and more natural. Throughout the weekend, she kept me regularly updated, giving me complete peace of mind. My mom ate well, and we even had a video call using Gladys’s phone, which meant so much to me.

Gladys also made sure my mom got fresh air with walks, and when my mom wasn’t feeling well, she acted responsibly and contacted me immediately to check on important things like the blood pressure machine.

I am extremely happy with her care, professionalism, and genuine compassion. I’ve already requested that she return in two weeks’ time when our regular caregiver is on leave.

Thank you, Gladys—you are truly exceptional.
